Kolkata, Nov 2 : Sohan Roy directed upcoming 3D film ‘DAM999′, which is based on dangers posed by the rampant building of dams, will grace the racks of the Oscar library.

The library of Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has added the screenplay of ‘DAM999′ as part of its permanent core collection, which is accessible to students, film makers, writers, actors and others from the field of cinema for the purpose of research, a release said.

Releasing nationwide on November 25 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu along with English, the film was shot by marine engineer turned director Sohan Roy in a single start-to-end schedule.

‘DAM999′ is based on real life incidents bringing to life the memories of 1975 Banqiao Dam disaster in China which claimed the lives of an estimated 250,000 people.

Though Indian films like ‘Chak De! India’, ‘Devdas’ and ‘Lagaan’ are already a part of the Oscar library, ‘DAM999′ is the first Indian movie to enter the library even before its theatrical release anywhere around the globe, it said.

This international venture’s cast include Rajit Kapur, Joshua Fredric Smith, Linda Arsenio, Gary Richardson, Jaala Pickering and Ashish Vidyarthi.
