Farrukhabad, Jun 30 : Noted poet Anwar Farrukhabadi, who penned popular Hindi film song ‘Humein to loot liya milke husn walon ne’, has died. He was 83.

The poet breathed his last at his native place in Nakkhas here yesterday.

Anwar wrote around two thousand songs in Bollywood and for private albums. His songs have been imortalised in the voices of Mohammad Rafi, Manna Dey, Pankaj Uddhas, Shankar Shambhu and Sabir brothers among others.

Born here in 1928, the poet left for Mumbai in 1945 in search of better future and spent about 40 years there.

Some of the films for which he wrote lyrics are ‘Al Hilal’, ‘Mere Piya’ and ‘Pardsi Sajan’.
