A 55-year-old retired serviceman was slapped at least five times by a local police officer in front of a bank in Karnataka even as he asked the cop to stop. The incident was reported in Bagalkot district, where Nandappa, 55, was waiting in queue outside a bank.
As soon as the bank gates opened, several of those waiting at the beginning of the queue tried to rush inside, showed a video released by ANI. One of the police officers manning the crowd singled out Nandappa, pushing and slapping him several times.
"Hodi beda (don't hit me)," Nandappa told the police officer even as he tried to shield himself from the blows. The cop relented only after a few others in the crowd separated him from the retired serviceman, but then threatened the man again.
According to ANI, the police officer in question was suspended following the incident.
