Cyclone Ockhi headed towards Gujarat and Maharashtra

The very severe cyclonic storm ‘OCKHI’ over eastcentral and adjoining southeast Arabian Sea moved further northwards with a speed of 18 kmph during past 6 hours and lay centred at 0530 hrs IST of 04th December, 2017 over eastcentral Arabian Sea.

South Gujarat and north Maharashtra coasts Fishermen are advised not to venture into the Sea along & off South Gujarat and north Maharashtra coasts from 4th December to 6th morning.

The National Disaster Management Authority said: The very severe cyclonic storm ‘OCKHI’ over east-central and adjoining southeast Arabian Sea moved further northwards with a speed of 18 kmph during past 6 hours and lay centered at 0530 hrs IST of 04th December 2017 over east-central Arabian Sea.

The well-marked low-pressure area in the south Andaman Sea continued to sustain its strength during the last 24 hours. According to Skymet Weather, the weather system would continue to move in west-northwest direction in favourable weather conditions and may further intensify into a deep depression in the subsequent 48 hours.

IMD expects the weakening of the cyclonic storm Ockhi from today onwards.
