Ritu Yadav, 21-year-old engineering student, daughter of Vishambhar Yadav, allegedly jumped to death on April 20 from the 17th floor flat where she shared with her three roommates in Noida. Ritu had apparently been caught for a theft at shopping mall and was scared of facing her parents, said the room mates.
Ritu, had also left a note that she had been mentally and physically abused by her roommates. This left her father to believe that she had been murdered and hence preserved her body with natural oils and chemicals in his mango orchard in Kannauj. The father wants another round of autopsy to be conducted to rule out murder.
The roommates have been arrested for abetting Ritu’s suicide and sent to jail and the police have filed a charge sheet.
“My daughter had called and told me that the other girls had harassed and beat her in the presence of a boy on the night of April 18,” Yadav told Hindustan Times. “She told me that she was hit with a beer bottle. I told her and the other girls not to fight. I also told them that I will reach Noida soon.”
The father refuses to cremate the body as he insists the police botched up the case by conducting postmortem in his absence.
