According to a new report submitted by the World Bank Group and UNICEF, India is home to over 30 percent of almost 385 million children living in extreme poverty. It is the highest percentage rate in South Asia.
"The youngest children are the most at risk with more than 1/5th of children under the age of five in the developing world living in extremely poor households." says the report.
Globally, almost 385 million children were living in extreme poverty.
The report said sub-Saharan Africa has both the highest rates of children living in extreme poverty at just under 50%, and the largest share of the world's extremely poor children, at just over 50%.
