Rio De Janeiro, Aug 20: PV Sindhu is the first Indian Women to win a historic silver medal in Rio Olympics. The 21 year old girl attempt to win gold medal for India ended in heart break when she lost with world number one, Carolina Marin in the women's badminton singles final on Friday.
After making a brilliant fight, she lost 21-19, 12-21, 15-21 in a nerve wracking final, which losted for an hour and 23 minutes at the Riocentre in Rio de Janeiro.Sindhu is the fourth Indian to win a silver medal at the Olympics after shooters Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore (2004, Athens) and Vijay Kumar (2012, London) and wrestler Sushil Kumar (2012, London). She is the youngest Indian to win a medal in the Olympics.
Sindhu told media that, "I never thought I would make it this far. Overall I am on cloud nine at the moment, this feels amazing." She won thrilling opening game 21-19 against Spain's Carolina Marin. Carolina grabbed the second game 21-12 before clinching gold with a 21-15 win in the decider.
